Interview Tips: How To Sound Great On Camera
If your video includes an interview component, this can cause anxiety for people who aren't comfortable being on camera. There are many ways to help put interviewees at ease, including these tips.
Rephrase the interview question.
If you're asked, "Why do you love Boundless Creative so much?", start your response with "I really love Boundless Creative because..."
Feel free to restart your answer.
Unlike live public speaking, your interview will be edited down. If you start on a train of thought you don't like, no worries! Just start over, and we'll take care of it in the edit.
Relax!
While this is easier said than done, keep in mind that everyone's goal is to make you look good! If you typically talk with your hands, feel free to do that, and stay loose and natural.
Ignore the camera.
Look at the interviewer instead of the camera unless directed otherwise, which will also help keep the conversation feeling natural.
Don’t self-censor your answers.
Don’t worry about trying to give the perfect sound bite or speaking too much. Editors always prefer more content rather than less, and the director will work with you to refine your answers.
